The body of the urn is made from carbon fiber, using our own ACM technology which enables us to make a one piece (monocoque) hollow carbon fiber vessel. The side inserts and name plate are made from teakwood.
"Producing Etearnal: Nautical Teak design proved more challenging than expected. Traditional shipbuilding methods couldn't be directly applied to create urn parts at this micro scale. To ensure a pristine teak surface, we developed a meticulous process that prevents gap closing sealant from penetrating the wood's pores during the production process. Our artisans embark on a manual journey of creation, cutting and shaping each segment of the design with the precision of seasoned shipbuilders. These segments are not just assembled; they are handcrafted to perfection, reflecting the dedication and passion of water lovers who understand the value of timelessness.
To ensure a lifetime as endless as the open sea, we impregnate the backside of the teakwood with a thin epoxy layer. This layer forms an unbreakable bond with the custom-shaped 3D printed matrix, creating a flawless pattern of teakwood that's as resilient as it is beautiful.
Small teak board segments find their place on this 3D printed matrix, and the gaps are seamlessly sealed with a polyurethane-based sealant – a formula specially designed for grouting traditional wooden decks on majestic ships and luxurious yachts. This process is nothing short of an art, and its labor intensity is a testament to the dedication we pour into each creation.
We have spared no effort in developing a meticulous process that prevents sealant from penetrating the porous structure of teakwood. The result? A pristine teak surface that remains free of sealant, delivering a visual appearance that speaks of perfection and refinement.
As the assembly, gluing, and grinding process concludes, each insert and nameplate is entrusted to the finest wood protection available, crafted by a renowned German company.
